Why? Because a professional by definition is licensed to provide a service that is beyond the abilities of the average layperson. Consequently, a professional always owes his or her clients a duty to consider the issues carefully and step into the shoes of their client with the professional knowledge, skill and experience that their client lacks. This is doubly important when dealing with unsophisticated clients. Unfortunately, not all professionals do this and the consequences can be sobering. A California attorney was recently disbarred for taking advantage of vulnerable clients. Don't be that professional!
