Proposed State law may abolish local land use controls

there are unprecedented changes to California law that in coming months may significantly affect how local jurisdictions control and restrict land use and development. State Senator Scott Wiener has introduced legislation, Senate Bill 827, that if passed in its current form would free up development near transit-rich areas and allow new construction to proceed more quickly.
